Earnings Calendar This Week: Home Depot, Walmart & More (17–21 Aug 2026)

Earnings Calendar This Week: Home Depot, Walmart & More (17–21 Aug 2026)

Second-quarter earnings season is winding down, but it's finishing on a high note. As of the most recent data, 88% of S&P 500 companies have already reported, with 86% beating earnings estimates - comfortably above the five- and ten-year averages, and on track to be the strongest beat rate since 2021. Aggregate earnings are also running more than 29% above forecasts, the largest surprise on record.

This week hands the baton to the retail sector, with Home Depot and Walmart headlining a run of big-box and speciality retailers reporting their latest quarterly numbers, alongside a handful of chipmakers and Chinese tech names rounding out the calendar.

Monday (17 August)

A quiet start to the week on the earnings front, with no major names due before the bell. After the close, Fabrinet (FN) is the notable report, with analysts forecasting earnings of $3.81 per share.

Tuesday (18 August)

Home Depot (HD) leads the week, reporting its second quarter results before Tuesday's open. Analysts are expecting earnings of $4.73 per share, up around 1% year-on-year, on revenue of $47.2 billion (+4.2% YoY). Not everyone is convinced the quarter will show real improvement: one Oppenheimer analyst is forecasting a below-consensus $4.66 per share, arguing that while Home Depot and Lowe's (which reports Wednesday) are "managing effectively" through a weak housing market and high mortgage rates, it's hard to see genuine green shoots in the sector just yet. Management guidance pointing to a stronger second half of the year may prove optimistic, the analyst added.

Other names due before the bell include Amer Sports (AS), Baidu (BIDU), and Klarna Group (KLAR).

After the close, a busier slate: Jack Henry (JKHY), Keysight Technologies (KEYS), La-Z-Boy (LZB), Mercury Systems (MRCY), Toll Brothers (TOL), and ZTO Express (ZTO) all report.

Wednesday (19 August)

Retail dominates the pre market slate, with Lowe's (LOW), Target (TGT), and TJX Companies (TJX) all reporting before the opening bell - a real gauge of consumer health heading into fewer than four months before the holiday shopping season. Analog Devices (ADI) and Estée Lauder (EL) also report before the open, alongside Kingsoft Cloud (KC) and cruise operator Viking Holdings (VIK).

After the close, watch for Bill.com (BILL), Coty (COTY), Nordson (NDSN), and newly public trading platform Webull (BULL).

Thursday (20 August)

Walmart (WMT) takes centre stage, reporting its fiscal 2027 second-quarter results before the open alongside fellow Dow constituent Home Depot's read from earlier in the week. Wall Street is forecasting earnings of 74 cents per share (+8.8% YoY) on revenue of $186.9 billion (+6.3% YoY).

Also reporting before the bell: Alibaba Group (BABA), Deere & Company (DE), NetEase (NTES), Advance Auto Parts (AAP), Autohome (ATHM), and ScanSource (SCSC).

After the close, Ross Stores (ROST), Flowers Foods (FLO), and OSI Systems (OSIS) close out the day.

Friday (21 August)

A lighter finish to the week, with BJ's Wholesale Club (BJ) and Buckle (BKE) reporting before the open.

The bigger picture

With the vast majority of the S&P 500 already having reported, this week's calendar is really a retail story , a chance to check the pulse of the US consumer through Home Depot, Walmart, Target, Lowe's, TJX, and Ross Stores in the space of four days. Housing-linked names in particular face a tougher backdrop, with elevated mortgage rates continuing to weigh on big-ticket home improvement spending, while Walmart and Target's numbers should offer a read on how price-sensitive shoppers are behaving further out from the holiday season.

Zooming out, markets remain in a strong position heading into the back half of August: the S&P 500 touched fresh record highs last week, and the Russell 2000 has also notched new all-time highs as the rally broadens out beyond mega-cap tech.
