Strong government and commercial demand helps Palantir raise its full-year revenue and profit forecasts

Palantir Technologies has raised its full-year outlook after reporting a sharp increase in revenue, supported by strong demand for its artificial intelligence software.

The company’s shares rose by more than 16% in pre-market trading following the results, as investors reacted positively to faster growth, higher profit margins and improved financial guidance.

Palantir has become one of the leading beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence investment boom. Its software is increasingly being used by governments, defence organisations and commercial businesses to analyse data and introduce AI into everyday operations.

Palantir Raises Full-Year Revenue Forecast

Palantir now expects annual revenue to reach between $8.15 billion and $8.16 billion.

This was higher than its previous forecast and comfortably above analysts’ expectations of around $7.72 billion.

The company also expects US commercial revenue to exceed $3.42 billion, which would represent growth of at least 134% compared with the previous year.

Palantir raised several other financial targets:

  • Adjusted operating income is now expected to reach between $4.89 billion and $4.90 billion
  • Adjusted free cash flow is forecast to be between $4.5 billion and $4.7 billion
  • Current-quarter revenue is expected to reach between $2.16 billion and $2.164 billion
  • The current-quarter forecast was above the analyst estimate of approximately $2 billion

These increases suggest that demand for Palantir’s AI technology remains stronger than previously expected.

Revenue Nearly Doubles

For the quarter ending 30 June, Palantir reported revenue of $1.94 billion.

This represented an increase of 93% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings per share reached $0.41, beating analysts’ expectations of $0.34.

Growth was particularly strong in the United States:

  • Total US revenue increased by 115% to $1.57 billion
  • US commercial revenue rose by 149% to $764 million
  • US government revenue increased by 90% to $809 million

The figures show that Palantir is growing across both its commercial and government divisions rather than relying on one area of the business.

Large Contracts Support Future Growth

Palantir completed 220 deals worth at least $1 million during the quarter.

This included:

  • 73 contracts valued at more than $10 million
  • Total contract value of $3.37 billion
  • A 49% increase in total contract value

Large contracts can provide greater revenue visibility because they may generate income over several years.

Palantir also reported strong profitability. Unadjusted operating income reached $912 million, producing an operating margin of 47%.

Adjusted operating income was $1.19 billion, with an adjusted margin of 62%.

The company generated $1.22 billion in cash from operations and the same amount in adjusted free cash flow. Palantir ended the quarter with $9.2 billion in cash, cash equivalents and short-term US Treasury securities.

What This Could Mean for Investors and Palantir Shares

The results may support Palantir’s share price because they show strong revenue growth, improving profitability and continued demand for AI software.

Positive factors for investors include:

  • Rapid growth in government and commercial revenue
  • Strong demand for AI and defence technology
  • Higher-than-expected earnings
  • Large new contract wins
  • Strong cash flow and a substantial cash position
  • Increased revenue and profit guidance

However, the strong rise in Palantir shares may also increase valuation risk. When a company’s share price rises quickly, investors may expect exceptionally high growth to continue.

Any slowdown in AI spending, government contracts or commercial adoption could therefore place pressure on the share price.

For traders, the earnings announcement may create increased volatility. For longer-term investors, the main question is whether Palantir can continue delivering rapid growth while maintaining its strong profit margins.
