With the announcement of a multi-year agreement, Uber and Turo, the biggest peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace in the world, will allow Uber users to rent from Turo's extensive variety of automobiles straight from the Uber app in chosen major worldwide cities.
Starting in early 2025, Uber will integrate Turo's exceptional assortment of more than 1,600 makes and models onto the Uber Rent platform. The agreement intends to give millions of Uber consumers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and France access to some of the newest and most popular cars while also opening up additional options for Turo hosts to further their entrepreneurial endeavours.
By partnering with Uber, Turo have the chance to leverage the Uber Rent platform to accelerate its growth and solidify its position as the largest peer-to-peer car-sharing platform globally. This is according to Andro Vrdoljak, vice president of business development at Turo. "By joining forces with Uber, Turo is well positioned to penetrate a massive $150B-plus total addressable market" he commented.
On the other side, Niraj Patel, Global Head of Consumer Vehicles at Uber, said that partnerships like this one are a key part of having access to flexibility on shared vehicles, as it is a vital aspect for future transportation. Meanwhile, Uber can continue to offer the best experience for riders. He added, "By working together, our shared goals of reducing private car ownership and putting the cars that are on the road to better use can flourish, all while giving Uber Rent customers more choice to pick the ideal car for their next errand or weekend getaway."
